Lungs rasping, Spider Murphey finally halts his tree-top escape. He must be at least a mile from camp with no sounds of pursuit.
"That bastard Rifkin! The boys were right when they said I was being too soft. I just couldn't stand destroying that beautiful voice of his."
Swinging down from the lowest branches, he spits onto the leaf littered ground.
"I vow though, if we should meet again, I won't make that mistake a second time."
SpiderMurphy 1 was good.
